Over the past years I have studied what makes a great portrait even better... here are some tips to help you look your best and to create a timeless portrait that will be treasured forever... Neutral colors draw attention to you, the subject, and not your clothing. Clothing styles come and go, so the simpler your outfit, the better. I would advise staying away from plaids, stripes, logos and especially bold prints. Colors such as greens, deep earth tones, reds, khakis and whites photograph best. I'm a big fan of blues and denim! When arranging a sitting of more than one subject, clothing of complimentary colors should be considered. Coordinated clothing creates a unified, connected feel to your portrait. Trust me when I say, It makes all the difference in the world! Headbands and bows on little children should be kept simple, so as not to distract from your baby's face. Any chance I get to take the shoes off my little subjects, I will! Remember... the simpler the better, but wear what makes you feel great! Digital photography is gracious in that natural looking touchups can be made, so heavy makeup isn't needed to hide trouble spots. So be natural, be yourself! |
